SCUT students win 1st prize of the 7th GDCPC

On May 17, the 7th Guangdong Collegian Programming Competition (GDCPC) authorized by Association for Computing Machinery of America (ACM), was successfully held by Association for Computing Machinery of Guangdong province and Sun Yat-Sen University. One hundred and thirty team enquiries from Guangdong universities and colleges participated in the competition and after 5 hours of heated competing, SCUT won the 1st prize.

Instructed by Mr. HUANG Han, a teacher from the School of Software Engineering, the team consisted of three students LIU Hailang, ZHENG Jianjun, and LI Zhiwei ranked the first. To encourage more and more female students to join in the competition, a special prize titled "the most outstanding female team" was set up which finally went to SCUT female team from the School of Computer Science and Engineering.

What's more, SCUT also won the prize for "great performances".

It is known that the international college students programming competition is held by ACM which enjoys great popularity in the field of computer science. Initiated in 1970, the competition is an international one with long history, large scale. It provides college students a platform to show their programming talents, being recognized as "Olympics in the field of computer science".
