The opening ceremony for the 1st Elective course in Search Engine Marketing Education , co-sponsored by SYSU s School of International Business and Baidu, took place on Zhuhai campus on 22 March.

Wu Guanpei, executive deputy dean of the School of International Business, Zhong Yibiao, vice Party secretary of the School of International Business, Hu Chunyan, Xiong Zan, senior manager of Marketing Department of Baidu, Zhong Hai, general manager of Marketing Department of Baidu, and Lu Shucheng, general manager of Guangzhou branch of Baidu, attended the ceremony, and discussed with more than 300 students about the marketing issues of search engine.
According to the related statistics, there are more than 1 million vacancies for the search engine marketing talents, which should have provided recruitment places for the graduating students. But what is true in reality is that qualified talents for the search engine marketing are scarce. The joint programme by the School of International Business and Baidu is aimed at providing education to tackle the imbalance between recruitment vacancies and lack of qualified talents. According to sources, the course lasts for 10 weeks, with 3 study sessions in each week. The teaching group is constituted by the staff from Baidu, and academic staff from the School of International Business.
