On the afternoon of April 30th, American energy expert, former administrator of Energy Information Office of the Department of Energy, USA, Doctor Jay Hakes visited the School of Environmental Science and Engineering, SYSU and gave a lecture, Why is effective action on climate change so hard?
During the lecture, Doctor Jar Hakes discussed the difficulties the world is faced in terms of reaching the goal of carbon emission reduction, including regional emission and the influenced imbalance, time lags and people s adaptability to new things, etc. He indicated that, we can solve climate problems by raising the energy efficiency, using substitute energies and other solutions. And all countries should unite to solve climate problems of the entire human race. Doctor Jay Hakes also talked face to face with the students on climate change.

The lecture was hosted by the Vice-Dean of the School of Environmental Science and Engineering, Chen Zunyu. More than 100 teachers and students of the School of Environmental Science and Engineering and the School of Engineering participated in the lecture.
