The delegation of Statistics Canada on Social Statistics Project (SIMP II) paid a visit to NBS recently. Mr. Zhang Weimin, Deputy Commissioner of NBS met with the delegation, and heard a report on the project team.
Mr. Zhang emphasized the needs to maintain a certain human resources to ensure the smooth progress of the project, and the project personnel have to be ensured relative stability. According to the circumstances, set up a separate Social Statistical Project Steering Committee was considerable. In the course of Sino-Canada cooperation project, the NBS will make the greatest efforts to give their supports on the implementation of joint research projects to solve problems that arise in the process. Mr. Zhang sincerely hopes that the project gained consummation, and promoting the use of the successful experiences to the nationwide to improve China's statistical work. During the meeting, the delegation briefly introduced the household income and expenditure survey, the definition and measurement of poverty of Brazil, India and nine other countries and regions; especially on the income and expenditure survey of international standards. The Chinese side briefed the participants on the scope and objectives of the pilot survey, the survey pilot scheme, the pilot project plans and schedules, China s mobile population and so on. On this basis, both sides conducted full exchanges and discussions on social statistics pilot survey of the sampling design, indicators system, data acquisition and data processing method has tentatively reached an agreement. They also signed a "Summary Discussion of Social Statistics, and the Future Course of Action" agreement. Messrs. Du Weiqun and Zhang Jun, Acting Director-General, and Deputy Director-General of Department of International Cooperation, Ms Zhang Shuying, and Mr. Sheng Laiyun, Director-General and Deputy Director-General of Department of Rural Survey, Mr. Wei Guixiang, Director-General of Rural Survey, and the member of the project attended meeting. |
