Fulfill Social Responsibilities CSR Participates in Quake Relief Work Actively

On May 12, 2008, an 8.0 magnitude earthquake hit Wenchuan County, Sichuan Province. CSR promptly launched quake relief work, presenting the due social responsibility of a national-level enterprise through donation of money and materials, setting up rescue stations and sending out rescue teams.

We were worried about the Wenchuan earthquake, we were anxious about the calamity in disaster areas and we took action to donate our love. All the staff of CSR expressed their anxiousness and love to the people in quake-hit areas in the donation activity of the company. No matter in-service staff, retired staff, social employees, casual labors or even foreign staff, they all participated in the donation.

No matter one hundred yuan, five hundred yuan, one thousand yuan or ten thousand yuan, every sum of money presents their true feelings and sincerity. As of May 27, almost 100,000 in-service and retired staff accumulated donation of nearly 13 million yuan.

At the same time, CSR gave their helping hands to the worst-stricken Dongfang Electric Corporation with urgent necessities of 4 tons of rice, 600 quilts, 1,300 boards, 3,000 iron hammers, 950 bamboo boards, 120 drinking fountains and 120 potted water. Dongfang Electric Corporation was so grateful for the timely help of CSR and they promised they would remember the favors all the time.

In Sichuan, CSR Ziyang Company set up rescue station and offered treatment for nearly 30 wounded people from Mianzhu, Pengzhou and other worst-stricken areas. The company provided mobile phones to help the wounded to contact with their family members, paid for the living expenses of the wounded and the volunteers and organized their staff to provide the victims with daily help and mental recovery.

After the earthquake, CSR successively sent out two groups of professional rescue teams with a total of 48 people to the front line of earthquake relief, helping transfer the wounded, saving property of the country and quake-afflicted people and dismantling the dangerous buildings in disaster areas. CSR offered temporary teaching places for more than 1,370 primary school students.

In Xiangfan, CSR Xiangfan Locomotive Company and Xiangfan Nanche Special-purpose Automobile Co., Ltd. received the urgent deployment from City Committee and Government, worked overtime and produced 2,000 tent brackets for quake relief. Within less than two days, they produced 8,000 large components and nearly 30,000 small components as scheduled. The staff worked hard till midnight. With no proud words, they just hoped to produce tents and help quake-afflicted people settle down as soon as possible.
