On Feb, 7, 2009, CSR Zhuzhou National Engineering Research Center for Convertors Co., Ltd. NERCC signed a technology service contract with ITER, an international organization, which was the very first time for ITER to sign a contract with China Industries. In pursuant to the contract, NERCC, on behalf of China industries, will provide technological support and engineering consulting for AC/DC high power convertor system of ITER while sending experts to attend in the project design and research in Cadarache, the city locating in south France.

Dedicating into solve the problem of increasingly drying up energy resources of human beings, ITER International Thermonuclear Experimental Reactor is a significant multilateral international scientific cooperation project only smaller than International Space Station in scale. It has China, EU, USA, Japan, Russia, North Korea and India as the organization members.

China participated into the negotiation of ITER in 2003 and finally assumed 10% expense of the total investment, i.e. around 10 billion RMB, 5 billion RMB of which is engineering construction fee. On Oct. 10, 2008, China International Thermonuclear Resources Project Executive Center was established in Ministry of Science and Technology to particularly conduct the project.

As the only national engineering research center for convertors and electric transmission technology in China, Zhuzhou National Engineering Research Center for Convertors Co., Ltd., a scientific and technological innovation enterprise under CSR Times, has accumulated abundant experience in terms of application of convertor technology engineering and industrialization.

NERCC s successful stride into the gate of ITER will promote CSR s new resource development both in width and depth, extend its influence in the industry of high power convertor and improve the capabilities of participating in international cooperation and independent innovation.
