Project Contract for Qatar Tower is successfully inked
An EPC Contract for Qatar Tower was signed on March 7, 2009, by Vice General Manager Xu Yongfeng of MCC Chenggong Construction Co., Ltd. (5MCC) and General Manager Mamdouh A. Ranwan of Al Huda Engineering Company. This is yet another EPC project to be undertaken in Qatar by 5MCC following its successful completion of CityTower in Doha; it will not only serve as a foundation for the establishment of Qatar Company of 5MCC, but also promote the application of Chinese Standards in this country.
The contract scope consists of the structure design and manufacturing, transportation, delivery and installation works. Qatar Tower measures 41,000 m2, and 142.76m high. Through continuous endeavors, 5MCC has eventually persuaded the Employer to modify the tower s structural style from reinforced concrete to steel structure, and to agree to adopt Chinese standards in design and project implementation. The signing of the abovementioned contract amidst the global financial gloom has been greatly inspiring to 5MCC, the EPC contractor. In addition to this, the two partners have also entered into a collaborative intent on a 14-storey hotel and a shopping center in Sudan, the structures of which are likewise to be changed from reinforced concrete to steel structures.
