China s first Wide Titanium Strip Project (High Performance Titanium Sheet), which was contracted by Shanghai Baoye Construction Corp., Ltd. (SBC-MCC) for Hunan Xiangtou Jiantian Titanium Co., Ltd., was commenced in Changsha on October 18, 2009. Vice Minister Du Zhanyuan of of Science & Technology Ministry declared the project commencement, and Vice Governor Chen Zhaoxiong of Hunan Provincial Government delivered a speech at the ceremony. The other attendees at the event included: Vice Mayor Wen Shuxun of Changsha Municipal Government; Chairman Li Jing an of Hunan Xiangtou Holding Group Co., Ltd.; Vice General Manager Xu Qiwen of SBC-MCC; and concerned people from all walks of life.
This project is not only one of the key projects of Hunan Province, but also the very first one undertaken by SBC-MCC in the field of titanium engineering. The facility is expected to be completed and commissioned in 2011, with a total investment of RMB 1.45 billion yuan and an annual output of 10,000 tons for cold-rolled titanium strip. Upon completion, this project will change the pattern of dependence on import of titanium sheet, and offer essential materials support for manufacturing of jumbo jet, nuclear power generation and ocean engineering.
Up to now the Project Division has finished the large-sized temporary works (such as the residence and office building for construction works) and the arrangement of water, power and road. Furthermore the preparation work for project construction has been commenced, and the perfect performance of SBC-MCC was highly appreciated by the Employer and the Supervision Unit.
