Asphalt mat pavement works undertaken by the Specialty Company of SBC-MCC and its partners
The Expansion Project of Hongqiao International Airport, one of the supportive works contracted by Shanghai Baoye Construction Corp., Ltd. (SBC-MCC) for World Expo Shanghai 2010, passed through the acceptance inspection and was put into operation before the eve of New Year's Day. The inspection was carried out by specialists from Shanghai Municipal Engineering Quality Supervision Station, the Designing Institute, the Prospecting Institute, the Construction Headquarter of Hongqiao International Airport and the users.
The Expansion Project is located in the north of Airfield area, mainly consisting of municipal highway, pump station and foundation treatment works for the Western Freight Zone.
The abovementioned project undertaken by SBC-MCC has won the first prize in terms of total score during the overall quality inspection and assessment for physical works and engineering software carried out by the Construction Headquarter. As for the acceptance inspection, the works gained the common praises again from the experts.
It is reported that the annual traffic capacity of Hongqiao International Airport in 2015 is designed as 40 million passengers. The newly built facilities include a runaway of 3,300m, a terminal of 250,000 square meters and a series of utilities. Around the opening of World Expo Shanghai, Hongqiao International Airport will have two runways and two passenger terminals.
