Prof. Younan Xia of Washington University was invited to present the 7th Memorial Lecture for the 60th Anniversary of DICP on 30th June. His lecturing topic was "Shape-Controlled Synthesis of Metal Nanocrystals".
More than 100 DICP scientists and graduate students attended the lecturing session. After the lecture, Prof. ZHANG Tao, Director of DICP, bestowed an Honorary Certificate of Anniversary Lecture upon Prof. Xia on behalf of the institute.
Prof. Xia was invited to visit DICP from 28th to 30th of June. During his stay in DICP, he visited Prof. LI Can, Member of CAS and Vice-Director of DICP. He was also invited to tour some of the DICP laboratories, including the Space-Catalysis & New Materials Laboratory, the State Key Laboratory of Molecular Dynamics, the Bio-Tech Research Division, the Fuel Clls Laboratory, and the State Key Laboratory of Catalysis. He carried out academic exchanges and discussions with the DICP researchers during his visit to the DICP laboratories.
Prof. Xia is at present Professor of the Bio-Medical Engineering Department of Washington University. His main research area is nano-sturctured materials. He has invented and developed the "soft lithography technique", with which elastic materials can be used as templates or seals for the preparation of nano- and meso-structures.
