Prof. Leaf Huang, Director of Pharmaceutics Department and Eshelman Chair Professor of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, was invited to visit DICP on 5th June. He was invited to give a memorial lecture for the cerebration of the 60th Anniversay of DICP, which was the 6th memorial lecture in this lecturing series. The topic of his lecture was "Smart nanoparticles for siRNA delivery".
Prof. Huang has been engaging in studies of genic therapeusis and targeted agent delivery for many years. He and his research team have developed a new type of "shell nuclei double membrane liposome" delivery system for the study of siRNA delivery and inhibition of the growth of tumor cells recently.
In his lecture, Prof. Huang introduced with vivid and humorous words the developing course of this new delivery system, and his talk gained many friendly applauses. After the lecture, an honorary certificate for memorial lectures on the 60th Anniversay of DICP was presented to Prof. Huang on behalf of DICP by Prof.
MA Xiaojun.
Then, Prof. Huang was invited to visit some of the DICP research groups, which were the Bio-Medical Materials Engineering group, the R&D of Medical Resources group and the New Techniques & Materials for Bio-Separation/Bio-Analysis group. During the visit, Prof. Huang highly evaluated the research environment and accomplishments of DICP.
