Hunan philanthropist Yu Pengnian signed a cooperation intention agreement with Central South University (CSU) on the afternoon of Dec.27. Zhou Qiang, secretary of the CPC Hunan Provincial Committee met with Mr. Yu and attended the signing ceremony.
Secretary Zhou praised Mr. Yu's care and support for the development of his hometown and appreciated his kindness and generosity.
Yu made large donations to the projects of the sci-tech town and hospitals affiliated to Central South University. The CPC Hunan Provincial Committee and the Hunan Provincial Government will concentrate on exploring new ways to raise funds for the betterment of society and upgradation of facilities in different universities.
According to the agreement, Mr. Yu and CSU will make joint efforts to build up the CSU Sci-tech Town and will make the required arrangements for the Sci-tech Park and the projects' headquarter. This project is estimated to cost about 1.4 billion yuan. In addition, Yu plans to offer another 100 million yuan to CSU to set up Hunan Lishan Xiangya Reproduction Hospital, Hunan Lishan Xiangya Ophthalmology Hospital. Mr. Yu promised that his income from the operation of the above three projects will be used in the philanthropy cause with priorities to the development of education and medical sectors of CSU.
