A delegation composed of European Union (EU) primary and secondary school principals came to Dongguan for the "Chinese Bridge" tour from April 6 to 8.
In the 3-day tour, the delegation paid a visit to Dongguan Exhibition Hall, Keyuan Museum, Dongguan Middle School, Songshan Lake Central Primary School, Humen Foreign Language School, and several other places of interest in Dongguan.
During their visit to Dongguan Middle School on April 6, the European visitors were impressed by the fluency of English and enthusiasm demonstrated the students. They attended the open classes, guessed lantern riddles and leaned to write Chinese calligraphy.
The delegation was composed of 22 school principals and educational officials from the Spain, Belgium and Ireland. This program is aimed at helping the EU educators get a better understanding of Chinese language and culture and thus boost the development of Chinese teaching in European countries.
According to Lin Qin, office chief of the city's Education Bureau, it is the first time that a large-scale foreign education delegation has visited Dongguan. "We look forward to increasing cooperation between both sides in the future such as exchange programs for teachers and students," said Lin.
