Looking back at the tourism industry of Jinzhou New Area near the end of the year, we are cheered up with gratifying figures: By now, 9.8 million person-times of tourists from both home and abroad have been welcomed, an increase of 7.13%; tourism revenues are 7.901 billion yuan, an increase of 13.08%. The tourism of the New Area has achieved double growth .
All these achievements are owing to the efforts that the tourist departments of the New Area made to overcome the effects of the 7.16 oil pollution incident on the tourism industry, promote key tourism projects, integrate tourism resources, brand tourism products and enhance the content and quality of tourism.
Tourism projects are important vehicles for the tourism economy. In 2010, in the New Area, 21 tourism projects were invested with over 50 million yuan each, including various tourism entities such as holiday resorts, spas, hotels, wineries and the Cultural Square; of which the Golden Pebble Tang Style International Hot Spring Club, with an investment of 500 million yuan, has been put into use, becoming a new highlight attracting tourists.
The annual International Beach Culture Festival and the International Winter Swimming Festival have become tourism brands of the New Area. This year, with the establishment of the New Area as an opportunity, they integrated tourism resources and branded more tourism products. The "2010 China Dalian (Jinzhou New Area) International Cherry Festival", with the theme of tasting spring fruit in an old town; appreciating the new look of the city , garnered tourism revenue of 600 million yuan within half a month through more than 20 activities: An Overseas Tourists Cherry Trip, a Contest on Farm-food Cuisine of Jinzhou Style Cooking, etc. An on-site meeting of Liaoning tourism was held in the New Area owing to the emerging rural tourism there, which their demonstration made apparent.
Tourism promotion is indispensable for attracting tourists. In 2010, the tourism departments of the New Area organized groups to participate in a dozen tourist fairs, promotion seminars and trade fairs in Shanghai, Taipei, Berlin, Osaka and other cities. Cooperating with media like CCTV, they launched a publicity campaign for tourism in the district with feature films, special issues and special editions, enhancing the image and popularity of their tourism through a comprehensive and extensive display.
Quality is the guarantee of the sustainable development of tourism. To improve quality, the tourist departments, for reinforcement of industry management, carried out 7 tourism safety inspections and 4 emergency exercises regarding the safety of water amusement equipment and a seagoing taxi, conducted inspections on business files or records at 10 travel agencies and rechecked 15 star-rated hotels. Moreover, they actively promoted the evaluation of tourist attractions. Currently, the Golden Pebble Beach National Holiday Resort is in a period of notification for class 5-A; Guang Xiangying Memorial Museum and the Cultural Square have been approved as class 4-A and 3-A; the Copthorne Dynasty Hotel Dalian has passed the first evaluation of the provincial assessment committee as a 4-star hotel.
