On July 19, 2008, two teachers from Nursing College of our university left for the USA for a three-month study in the College of Nursing of Michigan State University, according to the cooperative contract between the two universities. Eight students would leave for a two-week study there soon.
The exchanges between CQMU and MSU started in 2006. In Sept. 2006, Dr. Teresa Wehrwein, Associate Dean of MSU-CON, visited our university and outlined the cooperation in the cultivation of teaching staff and the co-establishment of international nursing collage etc. In order to promote the cooperation, President Lei Han of CQMU visited MSU in May 2007 and discussed the details of the cooperation. On Nov. 19, 2007, the official cooperative contract was signed between the two universities, which included the exchanges of teachers and students, cooperation in education and scientific research, and co-organization of international conference etc. It is also decided that the first batch of teachers and students from Nursing College, CQMU would be sent to MSU for exchanges in the summer of 2008.
CQMU attached great importance to this exchange and made adequate preparation. A 96-hour special English training course taught by foreign teachers was offered to over 50 candidates among whom eight were selected for the program through strict professional exam and comprehensive test.
A departure ceremony was held at Nursing Collage on July 18, 2008. Yang Hong, Director of Foreign Affairs Office, and Ruan Lili, Vice Dean of Nursing Collage expressed their congratulations to the teachers and students and also hoped that they, as the first batch abroad, could create in the USA the good images of students of CQMU and could have a better understanding of international concepts of nursing.
The representative of the students said that they felt very lucky and happy as the first batch of exchange students and they would try their best to win honor for CQMU.
