Deputy Secretary Participates in the Fifth Guangzhou-Taiwan University Presidents Forum

The Fifth Guangzhou-Taiwan University Presidents Forum was held in Guangzhou University Guihua Gang campus on September 2, 2009. Directors of relevant departments of the national Taiwan Affairs Office, Guangdong Taiwan Affairs Office and Guangzhou Taiwan Affairs Office attended the forum. The forum was organized by Taiwan Affairs Office of the People s Government of Guangzhou Municipality and GuangzhouUniversity. University leaders of TaiwanI-ShouUniversity, Yuan Ze University and other 10 institutions, Ms. Yang Seyu, Kaohsiung City Councilor and university leaders of more than 30 institutions in Guangzhou attended the forum. Mr. Liu Dayun, deputy secretary of GDUT attended the forum on behalf of the University. The forum focused on how to promote the educational exchange and cooperation between Guangzhou and Taiwan after the realization of cross-strait "three links".
Mr. Liu Dayun delivered a speech on behalf of GDUT. He said that during its half-century of growth and development, Guangdong University of Technology has done its best to produce graduates and scientific research achievements to serve the country's scientific and economic development. The University has attached great importance to the exchange and cooperation with Taiwan. In recent years, there have been five university leaders of GDUT visited Taiwan and a number of university leaders from Taiwan universities visited GDUT. More than 150 teachers and students participated in the exchange activities. The two sides launched student exchange, staff member exchange, academic information exchange and other substantive cooperation. Last year, GDUT has successfully hosted the Fourth Cross-Strait Higher Education Forum . This year the university will hold the First Cross-Strait General Education Forum with Yuan Ze University. The university strives to expand effective cooperation with Taiwan institutions in exchange of teaching staff and scientific research.
