On the evening of November 13, President Professor Chen Xin and Vice President Professor Zhang Li meet a delegation of Vellore Institute of Technology (VIT) in Dong Fang Hotel. The delegation includes three members- Chancellor Dr. G. Viswanathan, Director of Confucius Institute Dr. Sathya Moorthy and Director of International Relations Office Dr. Anita Charles. The delegation comes to attend the Asian University Presidents Forum which is held between November 12 and 14 in Guangzhou.
President Professor Chen Xin introduces the development and present situation of GDUT to the guests. He expresses his agreement with Dr. G. Viswanathan on the positive role of development and cooperation of Asian universities and high education system on Asian countries rise. He says, GDUT has endeavored to promote the teaching quality and broaden the students international horizon through international exchange and cooperation. He stresses that exchange and cooperation in a variety of forms will benefit both universities.
President Dr. G .Viswanathan introduces the basic situation of VIT. He says, Guangdong Province is developed in manufacturing industry and has a good market demand, and the two universities have a great potential for cooperation. He exchanges views with Professor Chen on the two universities possibility of cooperation on joint training, exchange of teaching staff and students and joint research. He invites Professor Chen and Professor Zhang to visit VIT to make a further discussion on cooperation at their convenience.
Vellore Institute of Technology is located in Vellore, India. It is the first university which has passed ISO9002 certification and passed International certification by the British IEE in India. Every year, more than 30 percent of its graduates go to work abroad.
