2009 International Training Course Opened in SCAU

On the morning of June 8th, the opening ceremony for 2009 Training Course on Environmentally Friendly Fertilizer Production, Application and Demonstration for Developing Countries was held at Zhuyuan Hotel. Prof. Liao Ming, Vice President of SCAU, was present at the opening ceremony and delivered a welcome speech. Guests from Guangdong Department of Foreign Trade and Economic Cooperation and Guangdong Department of Education also attended the ceremony. Heads, teachers from the College of Natural Resources and Environment and all the participants were present at the ceremony as well.

Liao extended his sincere thanks to the governing departments for their support and his warm welcome to all the participants on behalf of SCAU. He made a brief introduction of faculty and teaching facilities in SCAU and he hoped that all the trainees could enjoy their stay here and learn more about China.

Mr. Zhou Jianping, Director of Guangdong Department of Foreign Trade and Economic Cooperation also gave a speech on behalf of the Ministry of Commerce. He said that China would like to work together with other developing countries on the production and application of fertilizer, so as to contribute more on promoting agricultural production in developing countries.

As the representative of teachers, Professor Liao Zongwen delivered a speech. Mr. Eduado from Ecuador also gave a speech on behalf of all the participants. He expressed his sincere gratitude to ChinaInternationalAgriculturalTrainingCenter (CICAT) and the teachers and staff of SouthChinaAgriculturalUniversity. He said that they would cherish the opportunity to learn from the experts and professors in China and would bring back the advanced agricultural technology to their own country.

A variety of teaching methods are involved during the training, such as seminar, experiment, practice and outgoing visit. All the classes will be taught in English. The training course will last 42 days.
