SDUST Delegation Participated 6th Russia-China Symposium

On the invitation of Prof. Evgeny Eshchin, President of Kuzbass State Technical University, Prof. Li Shuguang, Deputy CPC Secretary of SDUST, heading a delegation of 14 academics attended the 6^th Russia-China Urban and Mine Underground Engineering Symposium staged in Russia s Kemerovskaya Oblast from September 27^th to October 4^th.

Li Shuguang delivered a congratulating speech at the opening ceremony on behalf of President Wang Chunqiu. More than 110 participants from Russia and China attended the opening ceremony.

During the symposium, academics from both countries had fruitful discussions and exchanges concerning a variety of topics including new theories and methods in underground construction planning and design, new technologies and materials for designing and constructing urban subways, mine roadways and tunnels, rock mechanics theory and practice, and mining safety technology. 61 *****s were collected in the Proceedings, of which 28 were presented by the Chinese side.

The delegation also visited Kuzbass State Technical University and had in-depth discussions with their Russian counterparts. The two sides agreed to extend the scope of the symposium to areas of mining safety, mine machinery, automatic control, surveying, coal chemisty, etc.

The 7^th symposium was agreed to be held at SDUST, China in 2012.
