Visit to State College of Optometry, State University of New York

From April 30 to May 2, 2008, President Qu Jia and Hu Zhen, Head of College of International Studies, paid a visit to State College of Optometry, State University of New York and had a friendly and in-depth talk with President David Heath and Vice President Michael Heibeger of the college of optometry. Both sides reached a preliminary agreement on the establishment of a Confucius Institute in Manhattan, New York and discussed the commencement plan of the construction of the Confucius Institute. Both sides hoped to cooperate on the programs of Chinese Teaching as a foreign language and promoting Chinese Culture in America, especially on how to take the advantage of the rich resources of both sides to promote Traditional Chinese Medicine.
