Dear teachers, students, alumini and friends,
The year of the rabbit has come. On the occasion of this new beginning, I would like to extend my sincere greetings and best wishes to all the faculties, the retired teachers and alumini of Changzhou University (CCZU), to all the students, and to all people who have consistently supported the development of Changzhou University.
The year 2010 has seen the greatest advancement of CCZU. The renaming of the university as Changzhou University brings more opportunities and responsibilities. With the support from the provincial and municipal governments, CCZU has scored tremendous progress in the nurturing of talents, scientific research, academic discipline development and serving local economy. CCZU recruited more high-performing staff and harvested more awards at all levels. The university has got 13 new master programs and 5 engineering master programs, including a breakthrough in the field of social sicences. CCZU has also got 6 new bachelor programs. The university is closer to the goal of a research-based higher institution.
The year 2011 witnesses the beginning of the 12th five-year plan of CCZU. During the five year period, the university aims at developing by leaps and bounds. Following the adjustment of industrial structure in Changzhou and Jiangsu, the university will continue to enhance its leading academic disciplines, including petrochemcial, material sicence, mechanics and gas storage, etc. In addition, CCZU will concentrate on the areas of biopharmacy, energy, environmental safety and electronic information, offer more support for the development of liberal arts and social sciences disciplines, and add programs of agriculture and medicine when the time is right.
The year 2011 will be a year of more achievement if we keep a sharp mind and a clear head. We will carry out the three-word strategyof quality, talents and speciality in order to excel; we will take teaching quality, outstanding talents, leading disciplines and self-relied innovation as our top priority; we will shoulder more responsibilities and promote the development of CCZU with great enthusiasm.
