On Sep.21th, the Konrad Adenauer Foundation Scholarship Program had its 2009 Award Ceremony on Songjiang Campus. Ye Xingguo, SIFT vice president and Thomas Awe, director of Konrad Adenauer Foundation Shanghai Office attended the ceremony.
Professor Ye Xingguo commented on students involvement and performance in this year s scholarship program, emphasizing that the papers presented by graduate students were well-structured and -grounded with clear-cut arguments. The quality of papers markedly improved. In the second round of competition, students showed their competence in English and flexibility in answering questions. He concluded with the wish that graduate students can remain enthusiastic in conducting academic research and improving their professionalism.
Mr.Thomas Awe, director of the Shanghai Office of the Foundation, said he was pleased to see the large number of applicants and impressed by students competence in paper writing and English skills. Drawing on his early experience of applying for the Foundation scholarship, he encouraged all the applicants to take this opportunity as a way of self-improvement and refinement. In the end, ten students were awarded the scholarship after their names being announced by Mr. Awe.
Since the application for this year s scholarship started in June, the Foundation has received 79 papers, almost twice as many as before. After careful examinations by both the Foundation and SIFT professors, 10 graduate students were awarded the scholarship.
