President Cup Table Tennis Opens

On November 6, the sixth China President Cup Table Tennis was solemnly opened at the gymnasium of SMU.
More than 300 athletes of 23 provinces and regions including Hongkong participated in the competition. They are from Ministry of Education, education administrative departments, as well as nearly 200 universities from across the country. It had been the largest competition that ever held in the last few years.
Mr. Xu Yinsheng, Honorary Chairman of International Table Tennis Federation, Mr. Liao Wenke, Deputy Director of Sports, Hygiene and Arts Education Department, Ministry of Education, Mr. Zhang Yanjun, Deputy Secretary-General of the Ministry of Education Student Sports Federation Joint Secretariat, SMU President Yu Shicheng attended the opening ceremony.
After two-day fierce competition, Henan Province team won the champion. Fujian Province team and Guangdong Province team separately obtained the second and the third place. Mr. Shen Xiaoming, Deputy Mayor of Shanghai Municipal Government awarded prizes for the winners, top athletes and excellent organizational units.
On the flag handing-over after the award ceremony, the Seventh China President Cup Table Tennis will rely to the University of Hong Kong in 2011.
