Sino-France 4+4 Program

Delegations from the 5 Ecole Centales of France visited our university during Oct.28 to 30. The aims of their visiting are: 1. Select students for the 4+4 Sino-France Program. 2. Discuss with the relative departments of SWJTU for the extending the cooperative fields of the 4+4 Program.

The Sino-France 4+4 Program is authorized by the Ministry of Education of China and the Ministry of Education of France which is aiming to enhance the academic exchanges and scientifical and technological cooperation between the two countries. The members of China are the 4 universities: TsinghuaUniversity, ShanghaiJiaotongUniversity, Xi an Jiaotong University and SouthwestJiaotongUniversity. The members of France are the 5 Universities: Ecole Centrale de Paris, Ecole Centrale de Lyon, Ecole Centrale de Nantes, Ecole Centrale de Lille and Ecole Centrale de Marseilles.

The 4+4 Program was brought into effect since 1996 and each year universities of the two sides exchange their staffs, students and academic documents. According to the ordinance of exchanging students, our university has sent 10 batches of totally 83 students to study in the above 5 French universities. And the 11^th batch of students will go to France in July, 2009.

There are 4 steps to select the best students to France: 1.select the best students from their schools or departments; 2. students selected by the university; 3. students selected by the French universities; 4. students apply for the French Eiffel Scholarship or the Chinese CSC Scholarship.
