The University s Sixth Academic Committee held its fourth plenary meeting on March 20 at the office of Academic Exchange Centre. The academic ethics committee is established during the meeting. The Committee s members also discussed the disciplinary optimization and adjustment programs. The meeting is chaired by the director of academic committee professor CHEN Chunyang. 22 academic committee members attended the meeting.

For the purposes of maintaining academic morality, clarifying academic disciplines, regulating academic behaviors, strengthening the construction of academic atmosphere, advocating honest academic strivings, and encouraging scientific innovation, the Academic Committee has decided to establish the Committee of Academic Morality.

During the meeting, Director CHEN Chunyang proposed that the first Committee of Academic Morality under the sixth Academic Committee of SWJTU absorb Academician QIAN Qingquan, Professor ZHOU Zhongrong, Professor GAO Bo, Professor XU Xingyan and Professor MA Yingchao as its five committee members, and Academician QIAN Qingquan appointed as the director. Committee members participating the meeting consistently agreed with the establishment of Committee for Academic Morality, and the proposal was passed through the way of showing hands.

In accordance with Agreement on Academic Committee SWJTU the Committee of Academic Morality should be in charge of the evaluation of the problems involved in the guidelines and policies that are concerned with academic morality, establishment of academic moral regulations, receiving complaints concerned with academic morality, and processing separate investigation on academic moral problems.

Implementing the top mission for development--- the Project for Academic Integration and Optimization immediately started after the Thirteenth Representative Conference of the Communist Party, where the developmental missions were made.
