Meeting with the President of Vellore Institute of Technology University

On March 18^th, 2010, five delegates led by G. Viswanathan, President of Vellore Institute of Technology University, India, paid a visit to SouthwestJiaotongUniversity. President Chen Chunyang of SWJTU met the delegates at the culture exchange center and they carried out a talk as regard to the cooperation between the two Universities.

President Chen Chunyang introduced to the guests the disciplines, exchange programs and the future development of SouthwestJiaotongUniversity. The delegates showed great interest in these and put forward some advices on scientific research, co-cultivate, students exchange program and internship. The detailed discussion was carried out between the delegates and the relative professors of SWJTU.

Later, Vice-President Fan Pingzhi met G. Viswanathan and Sathya Moorthy, President of Vellore Institute of TechnologyUniversity and Director of Sino-Indian Educational Technology Alliance in India respectively, and they signed the paper and thereby initiated the inter-university cooperation. President G. Viswanathan expressed his hope of establishing the biggest Sino-Indian educational cooperation platform at SWJTU.

Vellore Institute of Technology University locates at Vellore, a city in the Southern part of India. The University contains 7 colleges, 17 undergraduate disciplines and 28 postgraduate disciplines, with the rank being at 10 inIndia and the Computer discipline ranking second.
