Opening ceremony of 17th University Student Film Festival South China Branch held

On the afternoon of Apr.10, the opening ceremony of the 17^th University Student Film Festival South China Branch was held in the Academic Hall on SCUT south campus. Vice-president PENG Xinyi was present and delivered the opening speech.

Undertaken by School of Journalism and Communication, SCUT, the ceremony invited as honored guests the popular actor WEN Zhang, hero of the movie Wait and See, and LI Dawei, its director. Wait and See, as the first magic realism movie in China, has received considerable acclaims from audiences as well as professionals since its release, and enjoys high possibility, being a low-budget film, to be awarded the Best Picture in this year's University Student Film Festival.

It is reported that the one-week Digital Film Show will be launched after the opening ceremony and that the nominated films of the festival will be on show from 7 pm to 9 pm everyday for the next 5 days in the Academic Hall.
