Jointly held by Hunan Normal University (HNU) and Hunan University, Basketball Games of the 9th Hunan Provincial University Sports Meeting declared opening on the morning of October 31st. 47 men and women basketball teams from universities within Hunan Province will match against each other in groups of universities, colleges and senior vocational schools, only 6 of which can stand out with the championship.
As for the first two matches held in HNU, Xiangnan University (XU) defeated Hunan University of Arts and Science (HUAS) by a fairly wide margin, and by a neck Hunan Vocational College of Science and Technology (HVCST) beat Hunan Judicial Police Vocational College (HJPVC).
During the match between XU and HUAS, the former started the match with a three-pointer, while the latter fought back through steal to the hoop. Despite the greatest effort HUAS took, aggressive defense, quick steal and excellent teamwork finally won the final victory for XU.
With regards to the match between HJPVC and HVCST, both teams had stunning performances. At the begging, the former led the match 5 to 0, while the latter didn t wait for the doom and made a break of 19 points through tight defense and fast break. As a way to break through, HVCST carried out close defense to stop HJPVC s hot streak in the first period. And during the remaining periods, with good tactics, HVCST controlled the match and finally beat HJPVC 67 to 58.
It is learned that the Basketball Games of the 9th Hunan Provincial University Sports Meeting will last until November 6th. And fans are welcome to Gymnasium of HNU to watch the games and to cheer for the players.
