On May 24-25th, sa Bergenheim, the Vice-President of University of Ume and Janove Sehlin, the Vice-Chancellor s Counsellor for International Affairs, visited Shandong University. Zhang Yun, the Vice-President of SDU met with them. At the meeting, Vice-President Zhang appreciated the cooperation in the field of social work between the two universities and expected to expand the cooperation in other areas. Prof. Bergenheim mentioned possibilities for cooperation in the fields of medicine, history, archaeology, international relations and Chinese teaching. Both sides planned to hold a seminar in the field of humanities and social science in 2011 to promote cooperation and scholar exchange. Prof. Gunbritt Sandstr m from the Dept. of Social Work, the University of Ume , who is now giving lectures in SDU, attended the meeting. During the visit, the delegation visited the College of International Education, the School of Philosophy and Social Development, the School of Political Science and Public Administration, and the School Museum. They also discussed the exchange of students and scholars, and the holding of seminars. In 1996, SDU and the University of Ume officially set up the communication agreement. At present, the two universities are applying for the Palm -Linn International Program, and studying the social welfare system and the social work in China and Sweden together.
