On Sep. 11, President Nobuyuki Tamai and Secretary-General Christopher George, International Association of Hydraulic Research (IAHR) were invited to visit HohaiUniversity. President Wang Cheng, HohaiUniversity gave the guests warm reception and had a friendly talk with them. Aftewards, Vice President Tang Hongwu, IAHR Council Member Professor Zhang Changkuan, both from HHU and Vice Dean Li Yun, Nanjing Hydraulic Research Institute made a deep interview with the guests. Firstly, an introduction to HohaiUniversity was given by HHU. Vice President Tang expressed the willing to apply for the set-up of the Secretariat of IAHR in Nanjing together with NHRI and analyzed its advantages and conditions. President and Secretary-General of IAHR responded that HHU and NHRI had the strong power in water resources and scientific research, that they would attach great importance to the application and bring up some reasonable suggestions. Vice President Tang Hong Wu expressed his appreciations their visit and suggestions, and would respect their suggestions and try to do the application, under the support of State Key Laboratory, for the set-up of the Secretariat of IAHR in Nanjing together with NHR in good order. Some staff from HHU and some delegates from NHRI attended the talk.
