In the afternoon on March 31, five Shanghai news presses, including WENHUI NEWSPAPER, JIEFANG DAILY, XINMIN NEWSPAPER, DONGFANG DAILY and CHINA S BUSINESS NEWSPAPER, interview President GE Shirong on Nanhu Campus.
President GE warmly welcomes the presses and briefly introduces CUMT. He says China University of Mining and Technology (CUMT) is recognized as an international higher education institute for its largest scale, completest disciplines and strongest strength. He concludes CUMT s characteristics as three differences . First difference is the CUMT s different history. Established in 1909, CUMT is moved 14 times and renamed 11, which is rare in China s modern higher education; second difference is the CUMT s different responsibility for the nation. As the only university with the name of mining , CUMT has the responsibility to develop national mining industry and provide talents and technology; the last difference is the different spirit of running CUMT. Though there are some disadvantages, CUMT has successfully cultivated excellent students and elevated its overall strength.
President GE also answers the questions from the presses about CUMT s history, discipline construction and development of new energy researches.
