JU Students Won First Prizes in Jiangsu Province Undergraduates Innovation Competition

On April 29, the first Jiangsu Province Undergraduates Innovation Competition was held in Wuxi New District. Cao Weixing,Vice Governor of Jiangsu Province, Hu Jinbo,Deputy Party Secretary of Jiangsu Education Work Committee and Deputy Director of Jiangsu Provincial Education Department, Hua Boya,Vice Mayor of Wuxi, Zhou Qian, Secretary of Party Work Committee of Wuxi New District, and other leaders attended the opening ceremony.

Entries from Jiangnan University won an outstanding success, with six award-winning works altogether, including two first prizes, and won an award for the outstanding organization work. Ji Zhicheng, Vice President of Jiangnan University, attended the award ceremony and received the prizes on behalf of the university.

The competition was sponsored by the Education Department of Jiangsu Province, supported by China Copyright Association, China Association of Higher Education, Chinese Society of Education, and undertaken by Wuxi Professional College of Science and Technology. Entries are classified into three categories, namely computer software, animation, photography and art, and engineering design and products.

In the competition,a total of 1,502 students from 93 universities across the province submitted 1,881 entries.After initial evaluation, a total of 126 entries were shortlisted. On April 27 and 28, judges of the final assessmentcommented on the entries on the spot, and made the final assessment, with a total of 42 works awarded for the first, second and third prize.

Under the guidance of China Communist Youth League of Jiangnan University, with meticulous organization by branches of Communist Youth League of all schools at Jiangnan University, and with the majority of students' active participation in the contest, nearly a hundred entries from the whole university entered the competition.

Quan Liang and Shi Qingping's work, Hunter and the Bear, from School of Digital Media, and Chen Yunhong and Xu Ying's Creative Toothbrush from School of Design respectively won the first prize of category of animation, photography and art and category of engineering design and products. Meanwhile, the Creative Toothbrush obtained the national utility model patent.

In addition, two works respectively won 10th and 12th places in the category of animation, photography and art. Another two works respectively won 13th place in the category of computer software works and category of engineering design and products.
