TU Alumnus WEI Jiafu Named One of China's Top Ten Talents in Finance

WEI Jiafu, TU alumnus and President & CEO of China Ocean Shipping (Group) Company (COSCO), has been named one of China's 2007 Top Ten Talents in Finance, after being awarded China s 2005 Top Ten Talents in Innovation. The "Annual Top Ten Talents" award series aims to promote talent in different industries in China.

It is supported by a number of organizations including The Committee of Education, Science, Culture, Health and Sports, Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC); Chinese People's Association for Friendship with Foreign Counties (CPAFFC); All-China Federation of Industry and Commerce; China Enterprise Confederation; China Federation of Industrial Economics; Peking University; China Education TV (CETV); China's Talents Semi-monthly; and United Nation's Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO).

WEI Jiafu graduated from Tianjin University with a doctor degree in Ship & Marine Structure Design and Manufacture. He took charge of COSCO in November 1998. With over ten years of seafaring experience and as a well-experienced captain, Capt. Wei Jiafu has rich knowledge in international shipping management and operation.

As the head of COSCO, Capt. Wei has been crown with a number of distinguished awards over the past 5 years in honor of his outstanding contributions to the international shipping industry.
