The Chinese version of Out of Control: The New Biology of Machines, Social Systems and the Economic World, by Kevin Kelly, has been published by New Star Press.
The book is a summary of "what we know about self-sustaining systems, both living ones such as a tropical wetland, or an artificial one, such as a computer simulation of our planet," according to Kelly, founder of WIRED magazine.
It also offers a view on the mechanisms of complex organization and the major themes include cybernetics, self-organization, complex system and chaos theory.
Although the book was first published in English in 1994, Kelly said Thursday at the Chinese book release in Beijing that the work is still relevant.
"The book is mostly about how decentralized social systems can be a great power in the world. The technology industry in China begins to develop industry and levels of social games, social dynamics and social media. I think this will be very important help in people's understanding of how these systems work," he said.
The author was also in Beijing to present several lectures at universities in the capital on the Internet and new biology.
Kelly spends much of his time traveling, researching and speaking. His latest book What Technology Wants, was published in October.
