Chen Wenzeng, famous for reviving the Ding Kiln style of 1,000 years ago, will hold an exhibition of his poems and calligraphy in China National Art Museum from Thursday to March 10 in Beijing.

The exhibition will showcase more than 100 calligraphy works by Chen, and over 200 calligraphic poems written by Chen himself. Chen's poems strictly adhere to the rules and forms of classical Chinese poems, and express his inner feelings with odes about his hometown, life and Ding Kiln.

In the exhibition, there are also four Ding ceramic wares with poetic inscriptions in calligraphic style, as perfect representations of the combination of poetry, calligraphy and porcelain.

As a senior art and craft master, Chen has dedicated all his efforts to the research, restoration and production of the Ding Kiln for over 30 years and revived the famous kiln, which was founded during the Tang Dynasty (618-907) and later lost during the Yuan Dynasty (1279-1368).

"I learned calligraphy from my childhood, and combine the Ding Kiln, the poems and the calligraphy together in my artistic creation. [It] offers cultural inspiration for me," said Chen.
