Meimei's charity guitar

Ren Yueli, better known to Chuwan viewers as "Xidan Girl," has auctioned off the guitar she played at CCTV's Spring Festival Gala on Thursday and donated the money to charity.
Ren, now 23, used to sing for a living at Beijing's Xidan subway station since coming to Beijing at the age of 16. She became famous after a video of her performance was posted online in 2009 and her touching story of supporting her family later led to her was invited to perform at this year's CCTV Spring Festival Gala.
The bidding held by Beijing's Jiashikai Auction went from one yuan ($0.15) to eventually going to one of Ren's fans for 30,000 yuan ($4,563.43) in the auction.
Half of the money will be used to support Class Hongzhi, a government initiated program for poor students; and the rest will be used to help one of Ren's supporters who has leukemia.
