Hong Kong actress Cheire Chung at the exhibition
Saturday saw the opening of a high-end jewelry exhibition in Beijing's Shin Kong Place shopping mall, showcasing the Lune de Miel honeymoon series of French luxury jewelry brand Chaumet. This is the first time that the brand, best known for the 1,500-plus tiaras and crowns worn by European royalty over the years, has displayed its romantic exhibits in China.
One highlight of the opening ceremony was the appearance of Hong Kong actress Cheire Chung, known for sharing the screen with mega stars like Chow Yun Fat and Leslie Cheung in the early 1990s but seldom seen publicly on the Chinese mainland after she retired from her acting career.
According to Chung, the beauty of jewelry does not necessarily lie in rare stones or outlandish prices but in the way it has been chosen, carved and set. "Jewelry is a beautiful commitment to love. What I love about Chaumet is that in every piece, there has been a moving love story."
The exhibition will run for 10 days and tour some other cities in China.
