A joint exhibition of Chinese oil painters Liu Yujun and Fang Hui is being held at the Proud Gallery in Songzhuang Art District, the eastern suburb of Beijing, showing dozens of oil paintings created in the past few years.
Entitled "Different Faces," the exhibition is scheduled to run through April 20 and presents the two artists' recent explorations of portraits reflecting their personal understanding toward society.
Behind the seemingly beautiful female faces and smiling children lies a sense of melancholy hidden deep behind, says Liu Ke, curator of the exhibition, who believes their those expressions reflect the world very directly. Although everything seems quiet and content, lust, desire and anxiety are there to be seen if audiences observe carefully.
