Ancient Chinese books overseas to be 'returned' in digital form

The Ministry of Culture will strengthen the tracking of ancient Chinese books overseas, with specific tasks cited including more thorough investigations into the storage and collection situation of ancient Chinese books all over the world and facilitating their digitization.
It is reported that China will also strengthen the tracking and protection of foreign ancient books, as well invite foreign experts to take part in the identification, protection and research into foreign ancient books.
Officials from the Ministry of Culture noted that the changes are part of a "World Memory" campaign which aims to expand international academic exchange, enhance the technical expertise of ancient book restorers and strengthen international cooperation in the realm of ancient texts.
