The fourth annual Antiques Exposition, hosted by the All-China Federation of Industry, the Commerce Antiques Association and the Shanghai Xuhui District government, will hit the Shanghai East Asia Exhibition Hall Friday.

More than 200 exhibitors will set up shops in the cavernous 5,000 square-meter exhibition hall to display their ancient wares, among which china, jade, bronze, calligraphy, paintings and wood carvings are expected to be particularly popular.

Under the theme "High, Refined and Complete," this expo has already captured the attention of many top national auction companies and renowned exhibitors both at home and abroad.

Among the exhibitors, Beijing Rongbao Auction Co, Ltd. is to display a number of priceless items, including Dapengzhanchi (a depiction of a hawk spreading its wings) by Xu Beihong, a famous Chinese painter, and an imitation of Shixishanshui (water fretting over the stones of a brook) by Zhang Daqian, another famous domestic artist.

In conjunction with the expo, www.gucn.com, a Chinese antique website, Yunzhou Antiques City and the Shanghai Auction Company are to co-host an auction in Shanghai from April 21-23.

For antique lovers who can't make it down to Shanghai, the third annual Beijing Chinese Antiques Fair also kicks off Saturday morning at Tianya Antiques City and Beijing Antiques City. Dealers from more than 30 provinces and autonomous regions will bring over 10,000 precious antiques to the fair.

One manager at Beijing Antiques City said that one of the highlights of the fair will be jade carvings from Suzhou, Jiangsu Province, which were once part of an imperial collection.

"Of course, exquisite jade carving aren't merely for aristocrats anymore," he said.

Both events wrap up on Monday.
