Sister Cities New Zealand has released a mass email urging people to accept Japanese nationals who are keen on leaving their country, as the effects of the March 11 earthquake continues.
According to a report in eTravel Blackboard Asia, up to 45 New Zealand cities are in sister-city relations with Japan, including Auckland Council which is linked to Tomioka, a city 10-kilometres from the Fukushima nuclear plant. Air New Zealand has also extended some help by offering compassionate air fares and ticket flexibility for those affected by the earthquake and tsunami.
