Conclusion Ceremony of the Workshop on Corruption Prevention of Asian and African Countries Held, Ma Wen Delivered the Conclusion Speech and Qu Wanxiang Presided Over the Ceremony (Photos)

On December 6, 2008, the conclusion ceremony of the Workshop on Corruption Prevention of Asian and African Countries, sponsored by National Bureau of Corruption Prevention (NBCP), was held at China National School of Administration after successfully completing various scheduled activities. Ma Wen, Deputy Secretary of the CPC Central Commission for Discipline Inspection, Minister of Supervision and Director of NBCP attended the ceremony and delivered the conclusion speech. Qu Wanxiang, Member of the Standing Committee of the Central Commission for Discipline Inspection of the CPC, Vice Minister of Supervision and Deputy Director of NBCP presided over the ceremony. Related heads of National School of Administration and Ministry of Commerce, and ambassadors of related countries to China delivered speeches at the ceremony.

Ma first extended her congratulations to the success of the workshop. She pointed out that the workshop was the first international workshop of corruption prevention sponsored by NBCP after it was established, supplying an effective platform for Asian and African countries to launch exchanges and cooperation in corruption prevention, and providing a good opportunity for them to learn from each other and use each other s experience for reference.

She stressed that the workshop featured the following characteristics: attracting great attention from various parties, mutual support and cooperation, highlighting themes with clear specialty characteristics, diversified forms, active atmosphere, high efficiency and abundant fruits. Through the workshop, representatives not only reached various consensus in corruption prevention, but also enhanced mutual understandings and trusts, constructing a wide stage for further cooperation in combating corruption.

Ma indicated that combating corruption is a common topic facing various countries worldwide. Effectively preventing corruption is the important duty and mission of anti-corruption departments in various countries, and strengthening international cooperation in corruption prevention is also the consensus of the world community.

NBCP would like to actively strengthen exchanges with anti-corruption departments in various countries and deepen cooperation under the principles of mutual respect, equal consultation and stressing on efficiency so as to make contribution to the economic prosperity and social development in Asia and Africa.

The Workshop on Corruption Prevention of Asian and African Countries was held from November 17 to December 6 in Beijing, attracting 18 representatives from nine Asian and African countries such as Pakistan and Nigeria. During the workshop, He Yong, Secretary of the Secretariat of CPC Central Committee and Deputy Secretary of Central Commission of Discipline Inspection met with all the representatives for the workshop.

Besides discussing 13 special topics related to corruption prevention in Beijing in a centralized way, participants of the workshop also went to Fujian Province and other regions for spot study.
