Pre-festival Railway Transport Peak Hits Changsha

From the morning of January 5, numerous passengers began to surge into the Changsha Railway Station for tickets. To facilitate ticket purchase, all the ticket windows were put into service, and more policemen were sent there to keep order.

The Spring Festival transport period will last 40 days, starting on Jan.19, 2011 and ending on Feb.27, 2011. As the Spring Festival is drawing near and all colleges are about to start winter holidays, Changsha Railway Station has opened 28 windows for the convenience of students. Besides, for some road transport was affected recently by the snow and ice in Hunan and its neighboring provinces and cities, a portion of passengers chose to travel by train, thus contributing to the dramatic increase of train ticket demand. It is estimated that the traffic peak of students will arrive in the mid-late January, and the majority of students will go home ahead of the Spring Festival traffic peak.
