On the morning of Sept. 6, South China University of Technology (SCUT) held an opening ceremony for Grade 2010 fresh students respectively on North Campus and South Campus. A number of more than 10,000 fresh students, including 6228 undergraduates, 4198 postgraduates and over 300 overseas students, were admitted this year.

On the ceremony, President LI Yuanyuan expressed three expectations on all fresh students. Firstly, to improve yourselves, especially in terms of personality; secondly, to enlarge knowledge and improve professional ability through hard study; thirdly, to improve comprehensive ability by extensive learning.
WAN Jinquan, professor of School of Environmental Science and Engineering, and SU Cheng, dean of School of Civil and Transportation Engineering, gave a speech respectively. They reminded students of the change of learning style and the importance of developing innovation ability, practical ability, team spirit as well as presentation skill in college study.
