On the morning of August 29, 2003, a five-people delegation headed by DanMurphy, vice president and purchasing supervisor of Caterpillar Corporation, paid a visit to Baoshan Iron & Steel Co., Ltd. and awarded Baosteel a global supplier plate officially approved by Caterpillar. Caterpllar Corporation is the biggest manufacturer of engineering machines, engines and generator sets in the world.
As a long-term door-to-door user of Baosteel products, Caterpillar began to use hot rolled steel plate produced by Baosteel in 1998. It was the first time for Caterpillar high officials to visit their Chinese steel supplier.
