The Lead/zinc Smelting Project contracted by China Second Metallurgical Construction Corporation Ltd. (CSMCC) for Chihong Mining in Hulun Buir is progressing well. The latest achievements include: (i) earth excavation volume of nearly 70,000 cubic meters; (ii) concrete placement of 4,250 cubic meters for bedding course and foundation of the zinc concentrate workshop; (iii) manufacturing 600 tons of reinforcing steel bar, of which 400 tons have been installed; and (iv) processing and installing 3,000 square meters of moulding board.
The project site of Chihong Mining is located in the Economic Development Zone of Hulun Buir. As a large-sized lead/zinc smelting works, the project covers a total floorage area of about 130,000 square meters, with a annual designed capacity of 140,000 tons for electrolytic zinc, 60,000 tons for crude lead, 80,000 tons for electrolytic lead and 65,000 tons for sulphuric acid (by-product). In view of the large construction volume, variety of works and limited construction period, the staff of Project Division have prepared appropriate implementation scheme and detailed construction measures in accordance with the local climate and geological conditions, in the interest to cope with various potential problems during the project implementation. Thanks to the joint efforts of the employees, the project now is progressing smoothly.
