The Steel Structure Company of Shanghai Baoye Construction Corp., Ltd. (SBC-MCC) announced recently that, it has been awarded with the contract for Gate of the Orient in Suzhou City, which is China s highest twin-tower building covering the largest area and with a total steel structure weight of 14,000 tons.
The winning of this bid is of great significance since it: (i) has definitely added a light-spot for the Steel Structure Company of SBC-MCC in its professional performance in super high-rise civil building; (ii) has consolidated its leading position in this sector on the market; and (iii) will contribute a lot to the development and construction of Suzhou City.
This works is located adjacent to the Jinji Lake in the core area of CBD in Suzhou Industrial Park. The 68-storey building is 278 meter in height, covering a floorage area of 460,000 square meters. It consists of paired towers respectively in the south and in the north, which are combined into a single unit at the height of 200m and form a shape of a door.
It is the highest building in Suzhou, with the largest single area in China. This building integrates various functions including hotel, commercial business, shopping, office and service apartment. After completion, it will turn out to be a new landmark of Suzhou.
