The Symposium was organized by the State Key Laboratory of Molecular Dynamics of DICP. It was held from 1st to 5th of June at the Dalian Xinghai Holiday Inn.
The ISMB has been convened biennially since 1967, and has a history as long as 42 years. The focusing point of the ISMB is on the relevant experimental studies of molecular beams, with stresses on the techniques of molecular beam and their newest progresses and applications in processes involving physics, chemistry and biology.
In the 22nd ISMB held in Germany in 2007, it was decided that the 23rd ISMB 0f 2009 will be sponsored by DICP. This was the first time that this symposium was conducted in a region outside Europe and America, which implied that DICP's research work on molecular dynamics has a significant impact internationally.
The 23rd ISMB was chaired by Prof. YANG Xueming of DICP. More than 130 scholars participated in the symposium, among them about 40 are prominent experts in the field of molecular beams. 28 invited lectures, 11 oral presentations and 38 posters were delivered in the symposium. Besides, a Special Session was arranged to honor the outstanding achievements in molecular beams contributed by Prof. Vincenzo Aquilanti of the Universit degli Studi di PERUGIA, Italy, Prof. Dieter Gerlich of Technische Universit t Chemnitz, Germany, and Prof. Carl Lineberger of University of Colorado, USA. The three distinguished scholars were invited to deliver lectures in the Special Session.
After the symposium, all participants were invited to visit the State Key Laboratory of Molcular Dynamics of DICP.
