Prof. Igor Tkatchenko of Universite de Bourgogne, France, was invited to visit DICP on 18th May. He was invited as an Anniversary Lecturer to deliver a lecture on the occasion of the 60th Anniversary of DICP. The topic of his presentation was "Dialkylmidazolium-2-carboxylates: Green Source for Halide-free Ionic Liquids".
The lecturing session was chaired by Prof. LI Can, Vice-Director of DICP and Member of CAS. In depth discussion was carried out between Prof. Tkatchenko and DICP scientists and graduate students after the presentation. Then a Lecturing Certificate in Memory of the 60th Anniversary of DICP was conferred on Prof. Tkatchenko by Prof. LI Can on behalf of DICP.
During his stay at DICP, Prof. Tkatchenko was also invited to visit some of the DICP laboratories, including the State Key Laboratory of Catalysis, the Fine Chemicals Laboratory, the Modern Chemical Engineering Laboratory, and the Applied Catalysis Laboratory.
Prof. Tkachenko is at present a Member of the European Academy of Sciences, and has been granted the Chevalier de la Legion d' Honneur of France. He has acted as the Secretary General of the International Catalysis Conference, Member of the Directing Committee of the European Society of Chemistry & Molecular Science, Vice-Chairman of French Society of Chemistry, and Director of Lyon Institute of Catalysis.
His research interests cover halide-free synthesis and applications, C-C coupling reactions, epoxylation reactions, Fischer-Tropsch synthesis and various polymerization reactions.
