Zhang Jianfei Inspects Changsha's Unlawful Golf Club

Changsha Mayor Zhang Jianfei, accompanied by relevant chiefs from Kaifu District and the Changsha Municipal Departments of Urban Planning, Urban Management and Water Supplies, conducted an investigation in Yuedao Golf Club. The club was confirmed an unlawful construction and was compelled to be pulled down.

"Which is more important, people's life or golf?" Zhang got anxious and showed greater concern. He pointed out that such unapproved construction has seriously threatened the security of the city by weakening its flood discharge capacity, and must be demolished immediately.

He also urged that various departments should take a lesson from this and give full play to the oversight. Particularly, the water supplies departments should reinforce inspection in the flood-control dike circle and identify any potential dangers. In addition, Zhang said buildings in the flood discharge channel will never be allowed.

Besides, relevant inspection departments are requested to look into the whole case, deal with the chiefs responsible for unlawful construction according to law and carefully check the demolition work.

Finally, he emphasized that every department should draw inferences about other cases from this instance and strengthen supervision and management on unlawful constructions.
